I don’t think I’ve ever directly posted this here, but here it is at least for reference: this is from the canon prelude comic to Age of Ultron, explaining why the twins volunteered. While I don’t blame anyone for not reading this comic or not knowing what happens in it, canonically, the twins thought they were volunteering with SHIELD.

There’s some problem with the logic of the twins’ motivation that stems from the writing one way or another, but in the comic, HYDRA is very aware the twins wouldn’t be cool working with them if they knew.

Pietro and Wanda are still Magneto’s children here, in Old Man Hawkeye #7

Since Clint brought in the Thunderbolts I guess it’s supposed to be the late nineties. Still am I being overly optimistic to hope that Marvel is paving the way for retconing the retcon?

I hope so–at the same time, Quicksilver’s mini reinforces the retcon and it didn’t have to.

Preview for next week’s Quicksilver

How long till they undo this moronic origins retcon? As for the Pietro/Wanda relationship, there’s something that doesn’t make sense in Wanda and Pietro’s portrayal: he’s always shown as overprotective of a sister who doesn’t need much protection. The thing is, Wanda routinely gets possessed/loses control of her powers. Either acknowledge that Pietro’s overprotectiveness is based on the reality that his sister can’t always protect herself, or stop writing possession-stories for Wanda.
