I really hope Vision comes back. I mean the movie really goes to some dark places but at the end it’s still a Marvel/Disney movie. Would they be really that cruel to Wanda? Plus they went to all that effort to sell their relationship but it ends in tragedy? I don’t know. I hope not. Their comic relationship is sad enough.

I mean, I don’t think it gets much more dark in a Marvel/Disney movie that having our hero kill the man she loves only to watch him get resurrected and have half his head ripped out and then for her to die too.

We saw him die, twice. Both deaths were very drawn out, and in fact the most drawn out in a movie filled to the brim with deaths. Even some of the more standalone ones, like Loki and Gamora’s were not treated the same way. And then to get the imagine of the Stone ripped out, and his lifeless body falling to the ground? That’s really selling the death.

And then there’s the fact there seemed to be somewhat of a divide between characters who got a decent amount of screentime, lines, relationship developments, and characters who did not. And, notably, most of the characters who did not are the characters who got dusted. Implying, to me, they’re going to shine in A4. But Vision, especially compared to Wanda, had some pretty substantial moments.

Honestly, at this point, I’m guessing Vision stays dead, and Wanda gets a substantial role in the next film. But we’ll see.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmHOLY SHIT

FULL ON RAGING INFINITY WAR SPOILERS

The thoughts, all of them!

  • Stuttering, smiley Vision was ADORABLE.
  • There’s got to be a considerable amount of cut content–the leaks from a year ago showed a lot more stuff going on!
  • That movie moved at a breakneck pace
  • Wanda didn’t seem like she had a lot to do, but then again, neither did any of Team Cap. It was mostly the Guardians, Thor, Doctor Strange, and Tony.
  • I just need to watch that Edinburgh scene like 500x
  • S T O L E N  M O M E N T S
  • He loves her!! A lot!!!!
  • There’s no way “I just feel you” is not going to be significant in some way–I’m telling you, Vision’s consciousness has survived within the Mind Stone. He could never hurt her.
  • Obvs Doctor Strange did something. I mean… c’mon. All of the Guardians but Rocket, T’Challa, and Spidey? Well, I guess be shameless about it.
  • They really CGI’d the shit out of that stab wound.
  • Vision had GREAT moments–”We don’t trade lives for lives, Captain”. Honestly probably his most heroic moment.
  • JESUS FUCKING SAD ASS SWELLING MUSIC, SLO MO, “i love you” TRAGEDY
  • I kind of get the sense Vision might stay dead. They killed the guy twice… and we saw his lifeless, colorless corpse. That’s some serious “he’s dead Jim” shit.
  • But then again…. colorless. I wonder if they will try to go WCA Vision…
  • That moment between Thanos and Wanda… damn. That’s some thematic resonance right there.
  • I mean such a breakneck pace. I know it would have been a hard sell, but a half hour more for some slower scenes would have perfected the movie.
  • The amount of deaths really make you question who actually can reasonably stay dead?
  • Also I can’t help but question why they all went to so much effort to save Vision… I mean I guess it’s not very heroic to watch all our heroes try to wheedle someone into killing their soulmate. Still, wish they introduced the concept of Wanda being able to destroy the Stone way later.
  • Also I’d point out that Wanda’s sacrifice being on par with Thanos is pointed out in the narrative, and may therefore be narratively important for A4.

God there’s just so much!! So many thoughts!

I’m still on hiatus but I had a horrible thought and you need to have it too.

So this is definitely Vision pleading with Wanda to go right? Thanos is coming, the Avengers and co. couldn’t stop him, and she should save herself.

But there’s no way Wanda is okay with walking away, letting him die so she can live.

And of them–who truly has the power to stop the other?

So Vision, desperate for Wanda to live, is going to go forward, meet Thanos, and be destroyed.

But Wanda already knows that’s not going to happen. She already knows what she has to do. She takes control of the Mind Stone, and Vision is helpless to stop her. She steps forward.
