True. Do you think Steve is with her? Or someone else from Cap’s team?

WARNING: Spoilers for set photos for Infinity War and leaked clips

Well, by all accounts it appears that Team Cap was pretty nearby when the attack from the Black Order happens, so it’s not unlikely they’re living in Edinburgh too. They’re all in uniform though, and there’s been numerous indications Cap is taking on the Nomad role–so it goes to follow that while they might base themselves in Edinburgh, they’re being vigilantes in all sorts of places.

Where do you think Wanda has been living since Civil War?

WARNING: Spoilers for set photos for Infinity War and leaked clips

She’s likely been living in Edinburgh. Set photos show her inside a flat there, in different clothes than battle scene we’ve seen, meaning it appears to take place over more than one day. What I’m really curious about is what’s Vision’s living situation? He’s ostensibly still an Avenger, and Wanda’s a fugitive. Makes you think how often Tony wonders where did he misplace Vision for a week.

RE Vision’s down under: In the instances in the comics and the MCU where Vision has appeared naked, he’s shown to not have any genetalia/reproductive organs (which is likely why he’s allowed to show full frontal at all), and in either universe there’s not really any logical reason for him to be created with them. But, as you said, he could probably make whichever genitals he’d like if he felt like it, and even if he can’t, he’s getting by, because you don’t need a penis to have sex. Be creative.

I’ll take this opportunity to clarify something about Vision:

Avengers vol. 1 #57

Vision’s body was not originally robotic. John Byrne introduced that retcon because he didn’t think Vision should count as a person at all. As he was originally written, his body was entirely that of a human male, just synthetically made. He could even bruise and bleed:

Avengers vol. 1 #132

So much like the idea that Wanda never remembered her kids before Jan let it slip in Disassembled, this was a retcon that directly contradicted previous continuity, instead of just revising our perception of it, so it’s not a clear answer for comics Vision, especially since he’s had several different bodies.

My only real problem with ScarletVision is the age gap between Paul and Lizzie, if Vision was played by an actor closer to her age, I’d probably ship it wholeheartedly

I talked a bit about that here, and here.

Like I said in those, it’s a valid criticism and shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand, and I understand it making the ship too uncomfortable for you. It doesn’t concern me personally because:

1. As Vision, Bettany’s age is more an incident than anything. He was hired to voice JARVIS, and the plan wasn’t that he’d one day play Vision. That just kind of ended up working out, especially since Vision is touched up with CG head-to-toe.
2. While they could have cast Olsen older, Wanda starting off as a young woman is a very consistent–one might say integral–part of her character. I don’t think it would be worth it to go a very different direction with her very first depiction on screen just to make her a bit closer to Bettany’s age, especially since Whedon, Olsen, and Bettany have all said they didn’t know if the romance would end up panning out.
3. The character of Vision doesn’t have a quantifiable age, so there’s no realistically measurable age difference between the characters of Wanda and Vision.

But that’s just the way I see it. I don’t think you should make yourself try to enjoy what makes you uncomfortable, and you’re always free to enjoy some campy Silver & Bronze Age Wanda/Vision from the comics.

I want Wanda and Vision to be like in the comics because I want to see the critics pointing out how abusive this couple is. It will be a fun ride!

I encourage anyone to think critically of the media they consume.

There is no A- or B-list comic book character more than 5 years old that doesn’t have something that many people will find off-putting. There’s no ongoing comic book more than 10 years old that hasn’t gone through rough, perhaps even distasteful, stages.

For some, that might make it difficult to enjoy the medium. I really understand. I’ve gone through years where I drop some of my favorite stories and characters because they’re being handled in a way that makes me unhappy. In order for me to enjoy them again I have to make a conscious decision to accept how they were written but decide it won’t define the character to me. Every comic book fan does.

So for me, I don’t find Wanda and Vision’s relationship (roughly 1970-2002) in the comics abusive. On rare occasions it could be uncomfortable, but it was consistently written positively in my opinion. Post 2002 there are many moments I do not like that arise from both of them. I made a decision to accept this and not let those moments ruin the enjoyment of what I liked.

As for wanting the MCU couple to play out in a way you determine is abusive–if their comic book relationship makes you this angry, and eager for the negative cultural impact of seeing one of the biggest movie events of all time glorify abuse, you should step back. Being invested in hate over a comic book relationship isn’t worth it.

Vision has penis?

Ah, a timeless question.

He has sex. Vision and all of his other love interests (that last more than a few issues) have had sex.

Since Vision has been through a few different bodies, it’s hard to say. He is male identifying and is sexual; he has the capacity to create for himself a different body if he feels the one he has does not suit his image of himself. So the answer is “likely yes, but even if he doesn’t he still is sexual and has sex and his love interests are okay with that”.

If you mean MCU Vision, he was not born with one, but if he can give himself hair and make a perfect replica of a wool coat out of his own skin he can have as many dicks as he likes.

scarletvisionexchange message anon here: the problem is i checked the faq and it says a lauren organized it but when i clicked on the blog link my antivirus says there’s a threat and blocks me from seeing it idk what’s up with that. and it also says scarletvisionnet members helped but i come to the blog and there are no posts and no ask. which is why i’ve been asking around in hopes someone else might host/to find the owners

That link you’re talking about looks like it stopped being paid for, so now it’s linking back to the webhost. I did find what I think to be the blog owner and I shot them a message! I’ll post here if I get into contact with them.

hi idk who to contact for this but i recently saw the scarletvisionexchange blog and the exchange that was held last year. i wasn’t around at the time (a “lauren” organized it) and am new to the sv fandom and i wanted to ask/inspire some people if they can host it again? i’d do it but i wouln’t know where to begin since as i’m new to sv and tumblr. i was hoping you’d help me spread the word if you think it’s a good idea? i’m going to send this to a few other ppl 2 in hopes it’ll reach more ppl

I didn’t participate in the last one either–I would be interested in another. @scarletvisionexchange is the best place to contact; I imagine it’s a side blog to their main blog, so contacting the exchange is as likely as contacting the owner.

On that note, there was also a Scarlet Vision Week for just sharing art, but it came about rather fast and I missed it!

ok human vision theory kinda? so we know that thanos wants fucking rek vision right and we also know through the comics that vision can alter his appearance so maybe he is in like human form as a way to hide from thanos yafeel. like thanos is looking for a red weirdo so a human paul bettany is not that as to why hes not in red

It’s quite possible! It’s gotta depend on how Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther end, because if that’s the case, one of them has to convey to the audience that the Avengers know Thanos is coming for real.

It’s definitely the case that he’s in disguise. My guess is he’s secretly meeting with Wanda, who is still on the run because of the Accords.

Of extra interesting note, Wanda is wearing clearly different clothes, implying these scenes take place over more than one day (like maybe he spent the night…).

As someone who is exactly the same age as Lizzie, I find the age difference argument ridiculous.

I think the argument is a pretty rational one when you consider Hollywood’s age bias for men vs women, and the expiration date assigned to women at 40.

But besides what I said earlier, Marvel is pretty good about at like-aged casting. The greatest difference for any Marvel couple is Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson at 17 years–but neither were cast with the plan of their characters being together later. Otherwise, there’s an average 3.8 year difference between the actors for Marvel couples, and in a few the actress is older than the actor.

  • Zoe Saldana (38) & Chris Pratt (37)
  • Gwyneth Paltrow (44) & RDJ (52)
  • Liv Tyler (39) & Ed Norton (47)
  • Linda Cardellini (41) & Jeremy Renner (46)
  • Hayley Atwell (35) & Chris Evans (35)
  • Emily VanCamp (30) & Chris Evans (35)
  • Natalie Portman (35) & Chris Hemsworth (33)
  • Rachel McAdams (38) & Benedict Cumberbatch (40)

So while I don’t think the argument should be dismissed out of hand, neither do I find it a compelling reason to reconsider whether Vision and Wanda should be in a relationship in Infinity War and beyond.
