Wanda is 22 ?

Wanda is probably a bit older than some people are thinking! I’ve seen the idea that she’s still a teenager pop up surprisingly often lately, but she’s definitely not a teenager, and she wasn’t one in Civil War.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, writers of Civil War and Infinity War, have said so in this podcast (timestamp: 7:53):

Q: Let’s keep talking about Wanda for a second. One of the things that’s going on with the film is that everyone’s kind of treating her like a kid. I mean, she’s literally sent to her room, for a big chunk of the movie. And it made me think, how old is she supposed to be? Because Elizabeth Olsen isn’t a teenager.

A: No.

Q: It makes me think it’s just a lack of experience. Because there’s a generational aspect to this story that I think is really interesting.

A: We’re not saying she’s 16. It is just a lack of experience, and a level of condescension frankly, on some of their parts. Like “let’s put her in her room”. But it’s also a certain level, I think, of fear, because they don’t understand her power. She doesn’t understand it either, but they can’t quantify it. So the more childlike you make her the less of a threat she is, in a way.

We haven’t ever gotten a specific age on her, but I’m guessing more like 25 around the time of Infinity War. I think the fact that the costumers have felt comfortable giving her such big leaps in the “age” from the very youthful AoU, to the more college aged CW, to mom jeans:

indicates to me that she was never supposed to be so young that these costume-based age jumps would seem odd. Notably, every other character in the MCU has not aged in terms of clothing styles except for Wanda.

Sorry, this might be a rather unusual question, not Scarlet Vision related, but in Paul Bettany’s twitter description he says “Opinions not my own- often they’re Robert Fisk’s” and I was wondering what he meant by that?

Robert Fisk is an English journalist. Bettany is presumably saying he respects Fisk’s writing enough that Bettany’s opinion is shaped by it, and repeats what he says. His twitter has at least a few retweets of articles by Fisk!

why is wanda redhead?

Probably a disguise? Black Widow is blonde, Cap has a beard, Vision is…well. It’s not a great disguise, but it’s probably more for the audience, so we get the sense something’s not quite right, and so that when these characters are back to normal it feels more satisfying.

It might just be that they prefer red hair, and feels it emphasizes the “scarlet” part of her name. It happens occasionally in the comics, and CW Wanda has notably lighter hair than AoU Wanda.

We do have a little bit of indication that she will have brown hair again in A4, which I mentioned here.

I thought Wanda and Vision left Edinburgh after the fight against proxima midnight, but seems like they didn’t join the battle in Wakanda. Any idea or thoughts about what they’re doing after the fight? Also, it seems like wanda is stayin’ in hotel room alone while team cap is altogether. Why is she staying apart from them? (Sorry if my english is awkward:( still learning. btw I really do love your blog!)

Even from the just the official trailer, I think a timeline presents itself:

1. Early in the movie Wanda and Vision are resting at a hotel room. Probably lots of exposition for the audience.
2. In the same scene, or one very shortly thereafter, they head out on the streets and are attacked by Proxima and Corvus.
3. Vision, wounded in some way, is saved and defended by Wanda.
4. The rest of Team Cap arrives to help.

We can guess from the staging of the fight this is the introduction of Cap in the movie–the pause, zoom in, walk out of shadows is every inch a heroic introduction. I think pretty confidently these scenes happen very early in the film (not to mention the suspiciously happy “calm before the storm aura” in the hotel), and Vision absolutely is not going to die that early on.

As for why we haven’t seen Vision or Wanda in any other scenes besides Edinburgh, could be several reasons:

CG isn’t finished, to increase dramatic tension by not letting the audience know how the Edinburgh battle turns out, their scenes include major spoilers we can glean in a glance, they actually are in some of those scenes but they’re purposefully leaving them out, or they are purposefully hiding a lot more of the movie than we think.

It does seem like Wanda is less interested in the hero side of things right now, with her notably being the only character not in costume. Wanda’s powers aren’t great for undercover operation, for that matter–if Team Cap is trying to stay hidden, Wanda using her powers is a dead giveaway.

Also, you sent this to me some time ago, but I was mostly avoiding Tumblr in anticipation of TLJ and especially avoiding my inbox. Here’s a Wanda and Vis to make up for it! Your Engilsh is great, btw.
